Topsoil Giveaway

May 2025
As part of our commitment to community and local advocacy, we hosted a free topsoil giveaway in partnership with the Fair Care Alliance.

We provided 150 residents with two cubic yards of premium topsoil, inviting each participant to take one small but meaningful action in return: email the Premier of British Columbia to call attention to the urgent need for healthcare improvements on Vancouver Island.

This simple ask led to over 250 emails sent, helping amplify a shared message about the critical need for a new hospital and cath lab at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

The event was filled with positive conversations, stories, and a clear sense of purpose. We’re proud to have brought the community together for a cause that matters and to continue supporting efforts that help both our land and our people thrive.

Yard Waste Drop Off

April 2025

To support local healthcare and make yard clean-up easier, we hosted a yard waste drop-off by donation event in partnership with the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation. Anyone who donated to the SPECT/CT campaign was able to bypass the scales and drop off their yard waste for free. The event raised $1,569.76, which The Milner Group matched, bringing the total to $3,139.52. Not only did we help the community with seasonal clean-up, but we also helped raise awareness about the need for improved diagnostic imaging on Central Vancouver Island.

Topsoil Giveaway

April 2020

To boost morale, encourage gardening, and as a way of saying thank you early in the COVID-19 pandemic, we offered free premium topsoil to everyone. Volunteers helped out enormously with this event by loading attendees and helping to deliver soil to frontline healthcare workers who weren’t able to attend the event. The topsoil giveaway was such a success that traffic backed up all the way from Milner Recycling to Jingle Pot Road and across the highway.
